If your social media feeds look anything like ours this week, you’ve probably seen breathless reels, unboxing teasers, and hot takes about Apple’s brand-new folding phone, the iPhone Duo. But while the internet is reacting as if bending glass is straight out of science fiction, there is a whole community of smartphone users sitting back with a smirk.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Samsung foldable fans are thoroughly unimpressed by the commotion. And honestly? Can you blame them?
“We’ve Been Doing This Since 2019”
While Apple fans are marveling at opening their phone like a book, Galaxy users have been living that reality for the better part of seven years. Samsung launched the original Galaxy Fold back in early 2019. According to WSJ, Samsung has launched around 20 different foldable variations across its Fold and Flip lineups since then.
Galaxy users have already lived through the awkward first-gen phase, perfected the art of resting their phone on a table half-bent for hands-free video calls, and balanced three apps at once while ordering food during a Zoom meeting. To them, watching the tech world treat these features like brand-new discoveries is both amusing and slightly exhausting.
Even Samsung US couldn’t resist jumping into the banter, playfully posting: “Let us know when you’re done reheating our leftovers.”
