A 20-year-old young boy lost his life after drowning in the Khanpur dam in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The incident was reported on Tuesday, according to which the boy was trying to take a ‘cool’ selfie by the dam.
Several lives have been lost to such incidents, where youngsters act recklessly for their social media posts. According to sources, the boy was standing at the brink of the dam when he suddenly lost his balance and fell.
The deceased has been identified as a resident of the Mansehra district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
These incidents are not new in Pakistan. In February 2020, a 19-year-old boy attempted to take a similar selfie by the Poonch River in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He too fell in the water and drowned.
The latter was identified as Hamid Raza, a business administration student at a local college of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
We hope the 20-year-old boy who drowned in the Khanpur Dam is identified and his family is informed of the incident. We also hope that today’s kids know when a prank or dare is going too far. Nothing is worth the cost of a human life.
