PM Imran Khan announces award for Naeem Rashid, hailed ‘hero’ of Christchurch terrorist attack!

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday has announced that Mian Naeem Rashid who was declared hero of the Christchurch terrorist attack will be recognized with the national award.

The announcement was shared by PM Imran Khan via Twitter. In his statement, PM wrote, “We stand ready to extend all our support to the families of Pakistani victims of the terrorist attack in Christchurch. Pakistan is proud of Mian Naeem Rashid who was martyred trying to tackle the White Supremacist terrorist & his courage will be recognized with a national award.”

Being hailed as mosque massacre hero, Naeem Rashid tried to overpower the shooter, identified as 28-year-old Australian Brenton Tarrant, during a mass shooting at Al Noor mosque at Christchurch, which was live-streamed.

Rashid can be seen rushing towards the gunman without a weapon in an attempt to stop the attacker with just his bare hands. Naeem Rashid, passed away at the hospital as he was critically injured in his attempt to wrestle the gun from the Christchurch shooter during the Friday afternoon attack.

The terrorist attack carried out at the two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand has sent shock waves all across the world. This barbaric incident took lives of 50 Muslims and many are still critical, admitted in the hospital.

Naeem Rashid was from Abbottabad, Pakistan, where he used to work with a private bank before moving to Christchurch. Naeem Rashid’s 21-year-old son, Talha was also among the victims of the Christchurch shooting victims.
