A BIRD IN THE HAND IS WORTH TWO IN THE BUSH

If you understand it right, this phrase is worth a thousand words. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush hints to what you have is better than what you don’t. It tells you to celebrate what you have rather than taking it for granted, to not overlook it for something that you do not have. Because you never know if you are going to get something you are longing for but in that process you might even lose what you already have.

Life is not the same for everyone and so are the requirements and necessities. What is comfort for one can be a distress for another. What one celebrates can be mourned by the other so it’s always a two way emotion. It is necessary to always cherish what you have rather than despising others for something they have and you don’t. It is never a smart move to neglect what you have in hand for something you don’t. This proverb is not only limited to the material things in life but it also covers the emotional and mental aspects of life. This might include your family, your friends, your work, basically anything and everything.

It is not wise of a man to forfeit something precious in search of something arbitrary. It is a common trait seen in people these days to run after something that is way out of their reach, their thirst is what keeps driving them towards it but in between this commute, they let go of what they already possess.

Before life turns its tables on you, it is better to realize the importance and worth of what you have instead of longing for what you cannot. One should not make risky decisions for an unknown outcome.
