We frequently talk about good luck and bad luck, individuals being lucky or unlucky, and events occurring by sheer coincidence. But according to science, there is no such thing as luck or chance. Every event has a cause, according to the rule of cause and effect. There is always a reason why a leaf falls, a wind blows, or a flower opens. However, we continue to use the word “chance” to describe events for which we have no explanation. When such seemingly random events work in our advantage, we refer to them as lucky; when they don’t, we refer to them as unlucky. “Luck is just untraceable. And untraceable, law,”
Games of chance are played in all completely gambling games. They are simply determined by the occurrence of something we cannot influence, like the fall of a coin or the appearance of a certain card, and are not determined by talent or foreknowledge. There is undoubtedly a reason why we occasionally get “heads” and occasionally get “tails” when we flip a coin. The coin cannot be controlled if we are playing honestly since we are unable to determine the cause. Therefore, we say that whether it comes up heads or tails is just a matter of luck or chance.
Now, superstition is an offspring of ignorance. People define good or bad luck when something happens in a way they cannot understand. The term “lucky” is used to describe those who frequently have good fortune, whereas the term “unlucky” is used to describe people who appear to constantly experience terrible luck. They even believe that objects may either bring them luck or bad luck. They thus wear charms to ward off bad luck and become extremely anxious if salt is disturbed in their general direction, they pass beneath a ladder, or they glimpse the new moon through glass.
Naturally, all of these superstitions are complete nonsense, so an educated person shouldn’t even think about them. Actually, there is no such thing as luck or chance, and only fools waste their lives hoping for a stroke of luck to make them rich. The wise man will make every attempt to achieve it through careful planning, hardwork, sensible effort, and enterprise while taking no chances. The majority of “lucky” people work hard for their good fortune, while “unlucky” people miss out on it because they are careless or foolish.
