Fawad Chaudhry asks Punjab govt to provide security to Aurat March 2020

On Wednesday the minister of science and technology, Fawad Chaudhry asked the Punjab Government to provide security to the upcoming Aurat March, especially when the women’s rally groups received threats from different places.

He further mentioned that they fully have the rights to express their thoughts if Maulana Khadim Hussain Rizvi and [Lal Masjid cleric] Maulana Abdul Aziz can openly engage in hate speech.

And also that “”even if we may disagree with their viewpoint”, the Aurat March should be allowed freedom of speech.

The Lahore Court (LHC),  had wrapped up a petition against the Aurat march under advocate Azhar Siddique and issued orders for strict security provided to the participants and organisers.

‘Mera jism, meri marzi’

LHC Chief Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh had also directed the administration towards AUrat March and advised the rally leaders to to respect the constitutional and legal limits.

The top LHC judge had said his goal was to improve security for the Aurat March.
