Heatwave likely to hit Karachi on Wednesday

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Saturday issued an alert saying that a heatwave will hit Karachi next week.

A heatwave is likely to grip Karachi for three days from May 1-3, the alert read.

“The maximum day temperature would range from 40C-42C during this period,” it added. Dry and hot winds will flow from north/northwest in the daytime during this period. the alert further stated.

PMD requested the authorities to take precautionary measures.

Stay covered: Try to stay indoors, and if you need to be outside don’t spend extended amounts of time without shade. Keep your skin covered against the sun.

Wear light clothes: Wear linen, cotton, silk, or other breathable fabrics.

Find shade: Look for a shade, find a tree.

Stay hydrated: Drinking more water is recommended.
