Instagram for the first time ever has launched the Lantern camera filter in its platform to take part in the celebration of the Holy month of Ramazan. This camera effect will encourage users to share their Ramazan celebrations in a unique way.
As the Muslims around the world have started celebrating the fasting month, the photo-sharing app has also joined the tradition by initiating a #MonthOfGood campaign. Instagram through its campaign is calling Muslims and every other individual from around the world to celebrate and share kindness on its platform.
During the launch event of this campaign, Samer Jamal, the Strategic Partner Manager, MENA at Instagram said, “Instagram is a diverse, global community and Ramazan is one of the biggest cultural moments celebrated on the platform. Our data shows that Ramazan is a time when people come to Instagram to share their moments of kindness and good deeds – with words associated with charity increasing significantly”.
The Lantern camera effect features a sharp bokeh and crescent shapes and textures connected with Ramazan and is inspired by the ornamental Arabesque style. To use this effect users will have to tap on the screen to drag the crescent design effect and place it where they desire and then choose between English or Arabic Ramadan greetings
Instagram is encouraging its community to use this camera effect and mention the hashtag #MonthOfGood in the description so that it can reach a wider audience. The app’s new update will feature this effect, if it is not visible to you right now, you need to upgrade to the latest version of the app.
