It was a cold winter night in Karachi back in January, 2016. Snuggled up in my bed with my partner fast asleep I started getting flashbacks of the nights I used to spend with my sister before I got married.
Why doesn’t anyone ever talk about long distance sibling relationship and the pain that comes with it?
It’s not about being unhappy in your life and you’re just randomly missing your sibling. It’s not that. It is just the fact that after marriage you don’t only leave your room, your parents or your house but you also leave your siblings behind.
That night, I can never forget when it hit me that I miss my sister so much. That night, the white noise of the crickets outside slowly felt like turning into my sister’s crazy laughter and all the gossip we did together.
Sometimes you just want to have a laugh with them, hug them, stay up till late with them.
The urge of calling her and crying out loud just to tell her how much I miss her but I just couldn’t do that. That’s not normal, right?
Because no one ever talks about long distance relationships with siblings.
