On Women’s Equality Day, it is important to highlight the efforts of women who are working really hard to change the world. On this day, Penny Appeal chose a list of 5 Muslim women who are changing the world.
The list includes,
- Ilhan Omar, the first Somalian American elected to serve as a member of the US House of Representatives from Minnesota.
- Manal Rostom, an Egyptian athlete, clinical pharmacist, and fitness influencer.
- Linda Sarsour, the USA political activist.
- Ibtihaj Muhammad, an American sabre fencer on the USA fencing team, an entrepreneur, and activist.
- Mehwish Hayat, Pakistani film actress as well as a philanthropist.
Among all of these women, Mehwish Hayat from Pakistan has been ranked on number 5 for encouraging positive representation and peace in Pakistan. Once again, she has made us proud!
Mehwish Hayat, besides being a renowned Pakistani film actress is currently working for her country. For this reason, she was also awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz. Recently, we have seen her working successfully as an activist and humanitarian around the world. She thinks, that being an actor and model, it is her responsibility to promote peace and be responsible humanitarian.
It is good to see that such note-worthy Muslim women have stepped forward, and working towards world gender equality with Penny Appeal. They have not just inspired many young girls and Muslims but have also proven that “…no matter their race, religion, or gender, anything is possible with perseverance”, said Ibtihaj Muhammad in an interview.
We congratulate all these women for helping us reach where we are today!
