Coronavirus drug ‘Remdesivir’ has a possibility to damage the kidney!

The Coronavirus drug is in processing and we all are hopeful that it is available to everyone as soon as possible but there are some bottlenecks.

The EU’s medicines regulator mentioned that the drug ‘remdesivir’ it might affect the kidney of the patient. However, this drug helps to reduce the stay in the hospital for COVID sufferers.

“EMA’s safety committee has started a review to assess reports of acute kidney injury in some patients with COVID-19 taking Veklury (remdesivir),” it said in a statement. The regulator said it had “not been determined whether there is a causal relationship” between remdesivir and kidney problems, but that the issue “warrants further investigation.”

Moreover, it is highly likely that coronavirus has damaged the kidneys once it entered the body and the medicine had no part to play in the kidney failure.

The drug is still being used with coronavirus patients so that further tests can be carried out.
