Inzamam-ul-Haq,who is the former Pakistan captain and one of the country’s greatest batsmen, is in hospital in Lahore after going into cardiac arrest. On Monday evening, Inzamam had a successful angioplasty. Inzamam, who has been rose to global fame during Pakistan’s 1992 World Cup-winning campaign, had been suffering from chest pain for the past three days. He passed his initial tests, but tests on Monday revealed that he had suffered a heart attack and was needed to be rushed to the hospital for surgery. Inzamam was steady, but he was under observation.

Inzamam, 51, is Pakistan’s leading run-getter in One-Day Internationals (ODIs), with 11701 runs in 375 games, and third in Tests, with 8829 runs in 119 games. He was also one of the most competent and successful captains in the country.
He decided to retire from international cricket in 2007 and has also worked in Pakistan as a batting counselor and, from 2016 to 2019, as the chief selector. Furthermore, he has also provided his services to Afghanistan’s coaching staff.
