What is Rape?
Rape is a sought of sexual attack involving sexual intercourse or other types of sexual assaults which is done without having an individual’s consent. It can be carried out either by physical force or against a person who is not in the position to protect himself or herself. Someone who is disable, underage or not in the position to resist. Rape is done when someone is not able to control his or her inner drive of sexual drive and intensity, which is not allowed both, socially and religiously. Now a day, we hear many cases of rape from worldwide and it has started seeming like a new normal but let me tell you it is NOT! Rape can never be considered as a normal thing, be it today, tomorrow or ANYDAY. The act of forcefulness can never be normal, going against someone’s will can never be normal. Rape is a serious crime but here the victims get to be blamed and not the rapists themselves. Every single time we get to hear some girl being raped on a street, the society and people living here starts blaming her for going out alone but not the rapist who did the offence, went against someone’s consent, tried to do forcefulness act.
Victims are not to be blamed!
Living in a country like Pakistan where we get to hear rape cases being reported every other day of our life, it scares us to go out and face the world. We get scared to step out of our house without having a male support with us. Blaming victims and not rapists is just not right! Rape victims go through a lot of trauma already and still if they get blamed for the act which they didn’t do, they commit suicide.
Talking about the recent rape case in Pakistan, which was done on hostel based girl by a Govt officer himself. What can be more surprising and shocking than this? A govt officer who should do his duty and protect the girls of his country, instead of this he raped a girl, which clearly shows and prove that any man can turn into a rapist, at any time. On Wednesday, officer from establishment division was arrested under rap charges. The victim mentioned that she was raped by the men, in a hostel. The girl was a resident of Peshawar but because of fake job offer from the man, she had to travel Islamabad from Kohat.
This all just shows how miserable world we live in. Here rapists roam freely around us and can do whatever they want. In the end, girls are to be blamed because they went out alone and wore revealing clothes. Can someone please let our society knows that its really not about the revealing clothes and sex appeal but the mindset of people. Just one example can create a huge difference and stop these rapists to do what they do. One strict action can change the entire world.
