Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway is a truly emotional film starring Rani Mukherjee, based on a true story. It portrays the emotions of a mother who is yearning for her two children that have been taken away by the Norwegian child welfare services. It shows the struggle of Debika Chatterjee an Indian woman settled in Norway, her children are taken away just because of common practices that Indian mothers follow, like feeding their children with their hands, she fails to understand why the label of an ‘unfit mother’ is being enforced on her, when she’s not doing anything wrong ,that would harm her children.
This movie highlights the culture clash mainly, Practices carried out very commonly by Indian mothers in India are being deemed as ‘not safe’ or ‘unfit’ by the Norwegian child services. This 135 minute long drama makes us feel a plethora of emotions, anger and sadness both as we see Debika Chatterjee’s constant cry and struggle for her children. In the end, finally when she gets true justice and gets her children back for good we can’t help but feel truly really happy for her. This movie is really worth the watch as it perfectly portrays the emotions of a yearning mother and will really make you emotional.
